An unforgettable overnight jungle adventure in Bukit Lawang.
After breakfast at 09:00 AM, your licensed guide from Trekking Sumatra Expedition will meet you at your hotel lobby. From there, our group will set off into the lush rainforest for an exciting 6 to 7-hour trek. Along the way, if fortune favors us, we may spot Sumatran Orangutans, Thomas’s leaf monkeys, Gibbons, or long-tailed macaques thriving in their natural habitat.
During the day, we will take a break for a delicious lunch and enjoy fresh tropical fruits. Afterward, a short walk will bring us to our scenic campsite by the river. Here, you can relax, take a refreshing swim, and soak in the breathtaking natural landscape around you. Our team from Trekking Sumatra Expedition will provide complimentary tea, coffee, and local snacks. To wrap up the day, our camp chef will prepare a delicious jungle dinner, featuring rice, fresh vegetables, chicken, local chili sauce, tempeh, and more. After dinner, we can play fun interactive group games under the stars before heading to bed for a well-deserved rest.
After a hearty breakfast prepared by the Trekking Sumatra Expedition team, we will continue our trek deeper into the jungle. During today’s journey, you will learn about amazing forest plants traditionally used as herbal medicine. If we are lucky, we might encounter incredible wildlife, such as the endangered Sumatran Orangutan, white-handed gibbons, unique snakes, monkeys, monitor lizards, and other exotic species unique to this rainforest.
Today’s jungle trek is typically a 4 to 5-hour walk. Around noon, our team will serve a fresh lunch with locally sourced tropical fruits. After lunch, we will begin our journey back to Bukit Lawang. You have two wonderful options to return: you can either hike back on foot, or experience an exciting traditional tube rafting ride down the river directly back to your hotel!
Comfortable trekking shoes, flip-flops (for the campsite), a change of clothes, a long-sleeved sweater (it can get cool at night), a towel, a large bottle of water, insect repellent, sun cream, swimwear, a torch/flashlight, and toilet paper or wet wipes.
