Designed by Trekking Sumatra Expedition, this tour combines the wild jungle trekking of Bukit Lawang with the heartwarming experience of interacting with rescued elephants in Tangkahan.
Day 1: Arrival in Medan – Bukit Lawang Your journey begins with a pickup from your hotel in Medan or Kualanamu Airport (KNO). Enjoy a comfortable 4-hour drive to Bukit Lawang by private AC car. Check into your hotel and enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure—take a dip in the river or explore the local village.
Day 2: 1-Day Jungle Trekking in Bukit Lawang At 8:30 AM, our expert guides will pick you up to begin your adventure in the tropical rainforest. We will spend the day searching for the famous Sumatran orangutans, gibbons, Thomas leaf monkeys, and exotic birds. We will visit a jungle waterfall for a refreshing swim and enjoy a tropical picnic lunch in the heart of the forest. In the afternoon, return to your hotel via an exciting traditional tube rafting trip down the river.
Day 3: Bukit Lawang – Tangkahan Elephant Sanctuary After breakfast at 8:30 AM, we depart for the hidden wilderness of Tangkahan. Spend the day interacting with the majestic elephants. You will join the daily elephant bathing session and have the option to go elephant trekking through the lush landscape. The journey to Tangkahan also offers beautiful views of rural Sumatra, including oil palm and rubber plantations. We return to Bukit Lawang in the late afternoon.
Day 4: Bukit Lawang – Medan / Airport Enjoy a final breakfast at your leisure before we transfer you back to Medan or Kualanamu Airport (KNO) for your departure. Your Sumatra adventure concludes here.
