7 Days – Amazing Trip in Sumatra

Day 1: Airport / Medan – Bukit Lawang We start your journey by picking you up from your hotel in Medan or Kualanamu Airport. Enjoy a scenic 4-hour drive through palm oil plantations and local villages before reaching the lush jungle village of Bukit Lawang. Spend the rest of the day relaxing by the Bahorok River or taking a stroll through the village.

Day 2: 2-Day Jungle Trekking – The Adventure Begins After breakfast, our expert guides from Trekking Sumatra Expedition will take you into the Gunung Leuser National Park. For 6–7 hours, we will explore the tropical forest, searching for the iconic wild orangutans, Thomas leaf monkeys, gibbons, and macaques. We stop for a jungle lunch of tropical fruits before setting up camp by the river. Enjoy a delicious dinner prepared by our team and fall asleep to the sounds of the jungle.

Day 3: Jungle Trekking – Nature’s Pharmacy Wake up to the sounds of the rainforest. After a hearty breakfast, we continue trekking to discover the medicinal plants of Sumatra and spot more exotic wildlife. After a 4–5 hour trek, you have the option to return to Bukit Lawang by foot or experience the exciting traditional tube rafting down the river back to your accommodation.

Day 4: Bukit Lawang – Berastagi Highlands Today, we head to the cool highlands of Berastagi (approx. 5–6 hours). We will visit the beautiful Lumbhini Park with its golden pagoda and browse the colorful local Fruit Market, famous for its fresh produce. We will spend the night in the refreshing climate of Berastagi.

Day 5: Mount Sibayak Sunrise & Lake Toba We begin at 4:00 AM to climb Mount Sibayak, an active volcano. Reach the summit to witness a breathtaking sunrise above the clouds. Afterward, we continue to the magnificent Sipiso-piso Waterfall, dropping 120 meters into the valley. We arrive at Lake Toba in the afternoon and cross to Samosir Island for a relaxing evening.

Day 6: Samosir Island Cultural Discovery Dive into the rich history of the Batak people. We visit the traditional village of Ambarita, explore the Batak Museum in Simanindo, and witness a traditional dance performance at 10:30 AM. Don’t miss the chance to see local weavers creating authentic Ulos cloth.

Day 7: Samosir – Airport Transfer On your final day, we cross back to Parapat and transport you to Kualanamu Airport (KNO). We hope you leave with unforgettable memories of your Sumatra expedition.
